Let me preface this comment about how much I really enjoyed this game.
This takes me back to when I was at a egghead store about 1991 or 92 asking why did I need a sound card. They demmoed a computer with a sound blaster running wing commander 2. Bought both right there and have been hooked ever since
After downloading wing commander saga I had to go out and buy new joystick for this game as its awkward trying to use a sitek x 52 in a lazyboy to which I am mostly confined to now days.
I bought a Logitech extreme 3D pro which pretty well fills the bill with two exceptions no matter what I've tried to do I cannot get the twist function to be recognized or the throttle. I know you must have dealt with the issue but I just can't seem to find it on the forums.
One last thing is there a PDF or text file of the in game story text. The text in the game is too small for me to read easily. I think it adds to the game quite a bit and I don't want to bypass it. If I set my computer for large text then it affects the game as I can only see about a third of the screen, and of course cannot play the game.
My nephew and I really hope you will be able to add online and LAN play so we can play together. He grew up playing games with uncle jack.
Thanks for the help, thanks for the game I will be here for quite awhile.

Don't look back, if I'm there, it's already too late.
Thank you for sharing your gaming experience. A story PDF is coming soon, I believe forum member GODzilla extracted ingame fiction files and made them available two weeks ago on this board. If you want, you could do it on your own. Download the VP View tool from our website, open the hermes_core.vp archive and extract fiction files stored within.
As far as your joystick woes go: you need to bind those two axis in the control options (the settings you are looking for are labeled "absolute throttle axis" and "bank axis").
