Keeping mouse within window? was created by SpikeTheElder
Folks,

When you run in windowed mode, ois there a command to ensure that the mouse pointer stays within the WC Saga window, and soes not stray outside of it? Please advise.

Well, to be fair, I'm pretty sure there are ways of locking the cursor to within a window (DosBox does it, for one). More to the point is that's not how the FreeSpace/WCSaga engine works, so there's no way to do it for this game (or most others, for that matter).

Yes, I was thinking the cursor lock a la DosBox. Any ideas?

Ok, let me rephrase it... it is possible but we don't prefer doing that. An application is not supposed to simply lock the mouse in a window area. What if it freezes.. you wouldn't be able to do anything with the mouse anymore.

But to get to the real problem: Why don't you simply play in fullscreen mode?

I do run in Full Screen modemost times. Some times I need to keep an eye on other tasks while I play, so the windowed mode is ideal for that. The mouse cursor exiting the SC Saga window is a minor annoyance that I can live with iff there is no work around.

As I said, I'd rather not use that work around since if anything happens with the exe file it might very well lock the mouse control and force you into a total-reboot because you don't get mouse control back.

So if it is not too much of a problem I'd rather not change that.

I would like this feature too.
Just for example, even though it is a flash game, Minecraft does this. On a higher level, Modern Warfare 2 does this too.

I don't know what kind of programing would go into it, but I do hope it is a feature we can opt into.

To address the mouse being locked in the game when the game freezes, there are always keyboard commands to navigate the desktop and to close the program.
