I just completed my first of what will surely be many runs through the game. You did a great job. There are only a few things I would recommend to further the experience, but these would be purely "gravy" to an already delicious experience. First a coop mod allowing friends to play together as wing men would make the experience even better. I am not a programmer so I don't know how hard that would be but I assume it would take a fair amount of work, still it would be a phenomenal addition. I hope that this will be an on going project, after a well deserved break, with more missions or another full story line added in the future. In a forty year war there are lots of opportunities for further missions and some areas still open for stories. The Landreich comes to mind, they had appearances in the story but their long struggle with the cats often with little or no Confed support is wide open for some great original stories, and their massively unorthodox patched together ships would be a fun playground for the art team. The Wing Commander series is iconic and I hope it is not over and will not be decades before we get to fly again. Thank you again for a very entertaining , challenging, and enjoyable game. BZs all round.
Coop would indeed be awesome, but it probably won't happen for a while as WCS made some changes to its code that broke multiplayer.
I think it's going to happen one day, but not until the FS Source Code Project finds someone willing to do a massive overhaul of the Freespace netcode (which I think hasn't been touched much since 1999). I would say it has good chances of happening since
Diaspora(another Total Conversion released this year, it's set in the Battlestar Galactica Reimagined universe and it is AWESOME, you should check it out!)
intends to have a significant multiplayer component and is actively looking for netcoders.
In any case, keep tuned, there are already a few mods in the works.
