/edit: Ha, just checked the wiki...indeed, a Playstation version of WC3. Never would've expected this.
Well, as far as content goes...console versions generally suffer from small memory. And now just system memory, but also available memory for animations. Even modern games on modern consoles still got this problem. -.-
The consoles couldn't handle the ground missions (heck even the PCs of back then could hardly handle them) so they cut them and replaced them with prerendered cutscenes (which were actually really well done and arguable more fun than the mission sections)
