Mounting a heavy array of forward energy weapons and brandishing the ability to mount a torpedo, this craft, sometimes affectionately referred to as the "Thud" or "Lead Sled", has a remarkable success rate against light capital ships and medium to heavy fighters. Sporting heavy armor and shielding, the Thunderbolt is far slower and less maneuverable than the Hellcat or the Arrow. The huge fighter also incorporates a mass driver "tail stinger" turret to keep quicker fighters honest. Despite its limitations, the Thunderbolt excels at what it was primarily designed to do - go head to head with heavy targets.
