I recently downloaded the game, and I use 2 hdd's one for the OS and another for games. I installed the game and it runs fine, but when I try to apply the patch 1.1 it gives me an error message "Main product wing commander saga beta - not found on the system. This product is required to install the current upgrade."
I tried copying the setup patch file into the folder the game is installed but it still doesnt work.
I also checked in game the version its is running and its the 1.0.
I checked the forums and couldnt find anything about this problem, if someone can point me out I would be very grateful.
I don't think this problem has ever been encountered before. I have no idea how the patch's installer is supposed to identify your Saga folder, so I'm afraid I can't give more useful advice than trying to re-install the game and see if it works better.
That being said, the base game is already pretty stable and bug-free, so I wouldn't get too worked up about it. The patch's most outstanding feature is to re-enable Freespace-style mouse control.
Now that I think about it, I could provide you with the patched .exe when I get home later today. I don't think I can do much about patched data though.
Good news: it looks like they put the patch data in their own .vp file (which is both the easiest and safest way to patch FSO games'n'mods, I'm not sure why I thought data would be a problem)
.
I zipped the patch files and
uploaded it to mediafire
(it was to big for forum attachments), so all you need to do is download & uncompress it into your WCS folder.
