This is not a Saga issue per se, but I'm struggling with POF Constructor 2. It used to work fine, now it hangs on the splash screen and never finishes loading. Can't think why; I recently installed .Net v4, not sure if that would have any effect?
Help would be appreciated; these Saga ships models are so pretty...
I'm not a PCS2 expert, but you would probably have better luck asking stuff at Hard Light Productions (
FSO modding tools
), either by asking on the forum, or on the
I could suggest to "purge the bsp cache", whatever that means.
To be honest, I am a bit stumped - feel free to record a trace using Sysinternals Process Monitor though. That's pretty much the only way I could think of if you want to track the issue. If you upload the resulting trace file to a file hoster of your choice, I could take a look.
Problem is mostly sorted; at the suggestion of a friendly contributor over at the Hard-Light forums, I installed the 2.1 Beta of PCS. It loads perfectly, and I can view the models with textures again. There is a minor annoyance though. It appears some kind of transparent/translucent effect is enabled, which allows you to see through the side of the model facing towards you. I can't figure out how to turn this off. Any ideas?
All sorted now. I will give some more detail in case anyone runs into a similar problem.
Out of desperation, I made some changes to my Catalyst profile settings and presets. I created an application profile specifically for PCS, and made all settings application-driven instead of being forced. Somewhere along the line, one of the changes worked, and all models now display normally again.
My guess is that PCS didn't like the forced value of one of my profile settings, but whether it was AA, AF, texture quality, v-sync, buffering, or something else, I cannot tell. Hopefully this knowledge will prove useful to someone in future.
