medals was created by nosleep
hi!

first of all you lot did a great job on wc saga!
i'm really enjoying lighting up kilrathis again :P
there are only few things i want to ask: what did i do to be awarded medals?
for some of them the reason is obvious like the ace medal, but i have no clue what i got the bronze, silver and gold stars, the distinguished service cross and the starbust for... :?
at last why did i get awarded with the bronze star after i got the silver and gold?
well for now that's all folks.
once again great job!

Bronze, Silver and Gold Stars - are awarded mostly for achieving enough kills/score in one mission, sometimes for completing missions which you can fail and still continue.
Some specific medals/ribbons are awarded after the series of missions and are granted based on your overall accomplishments in that specific mission series. Sometimes you will get Silver Star instead if not enough objectives were accomplished but still some of them were. Some other are awarded for outstanding achievements in battle.
There are also standard kill based awards:
Ace Medal - 5 kills
Ace of Aces Medal - 25 kills
Century Award - 100 kills

Good hunting.

hmm im always crediting 15 to 23 kills a mission and still no single star.
i got century medal and vega prime evac ribbon but no single star.i am on the second mission in the new squad after fall of vegas planet and i have 120 kills or that.
does it depend on difficulty level / does difficulty level affect score ?
i switched from hard to medium after prologue.

my hit ratio is about 60 percent for guns...wtf i want stars XD

BTW is it possible to kill FIRECLAW in this first engagement ? i replayed this mission 5 times..saved all rockets for him but always he runs away? scripted or do i suck ?

You will have plenty of opportunities to earn more medals don't worry. As for Fireclaw you cannot kill him, his escape is scripted.

Bronze/Silver/Gold Stars are not awarded for kills, they are awarded for bravery. You'll get one soon enough (depending on your performance)

So far so good, got 2 bronze stars and ....surprise..a silver star in the feared skipper missile mission =)

But could i get GOLD in this mission? i mean .. i killed any target that i could reach as fast as possible before the skipper waypoint comes. then i cant kill fighters.. i must kill those 3 missiles..dammit how to get gold star there XD

kill the first missile then kill 2 launchers = gold ?

my problem is the subtargeting system. i can only lock subsystems that i face with my aim....so far..

GENERALLY is it possible to get a star every mission or only in certain ones ?

And what is the difference between brave and more brave ? i mean.....there must be a maths system in missions or triggers.

EXAMPLE:

i got 32 kills in that mission with the sleeping carrier/asteroid base, killed all light turrets of the carrier...both longbows above 80 percent and...NTHG , NO STAR after this epic battle...because there is no trigger in the mission for a star ?

Then i kill 3 skipper missiles with ir rockets ( ZZZZZ soooo brave) and 6 fighters....... BOOOM silver star LOL

i can not understand this logic of "bravery",its like steven spielberg pussy movies that paint a wannabee picture of war..

SORRY if that sounds too harsh, i love your work...maybe i cant explain as good as in my nature lang.

The gamedesign is addicting... i left my wing to help the civil station..so i had to restart mission haha because i wanted to be BRAVE =) no star..just mission end

I dont want to compare real armies medalsystem, i just want to understand your system, guys =)

again,BIG BIIG THX for your ountstanding work...on with the bodycount.

You don't get a medal in every mission. You can get them in specific ones. And then only one medal. You don't get a silver for passing good and a gold for passing perfect. You get them when you get them. ;)

FYI, there is a key to cycle targetting through the turrets/launchers on a ship (I think it's 'k' by default); check the keybindings in the options screen. There's also a key for doing the same with subsystems (eg. comms, weapons, sensors, engines). There's a third key for targetting the turret or subsystem that's under the reticle (i.e. the one you're aiming at).
