First Patch Now Available

It really is an exciting time to be a wingnut. It’s been a ten days since the Saga's release and we wanted to share details on what we’re working on.

Our SDK is shaping up nicely. It should make the process of modding possible (at least for tech-savvy folks). We’re currently working on a mission creation tutorial and are hoping to see a number of Saga mods and tweaks once the SDK goes live.

Echoing what we stated on our forums, we’re evaluating your feedback and will address issues that are being reported in subsequent patches. As a matter of fact, the very first Saga update is now available. It fixes a number of small issues that have plagued gamers since launch.

After the break, check out the patch notes for 1.1.0.7822.

Patch Notes - March 27, 2011

  • Addressed an issue that was causing launcher to not save sound device properly on some systems.
  • Added tooltips for autopilot and glide usage.
  • Fiction viewer font replaced.
  • Alternative mouse steering is now available. You can choose between the WC and FS controls depending on your personal preference.
  • Losing the TCS Aurora would block the game's progress. This has been addressed.

Yes No I've just finished the campaign today and I'm speechless. This game is so unbelievably good, so much better than I'd expected it to be. It's so good to see another space sim AND an "interactiv e story" game. I've been missing on both since all those new multiplayer-oriented games are hardly playable to me.
Many thanks and great job!

Yes No I hope either the WCSA-team or the modders will achieve at least three things:

- cockpits
- moving debris of big ships / starbases
- shadows

Apart from the latter the two former have already been possible in FSO. The "generic cockpit" was amazing, great-looking and really added to the immersion! :)

Shadows...there was an experimental build, but it was never actually finished, had many glitches and a bad performance. But it worked and looked amazing. ^^

Go modders, go team! :D

Switched difficulty from medium to easy, shame on me. I have have bought a new joystick for this game because...

The game ROCKS, you should ask money for it !

Finished! Yes No Thank you guys for the great game!
Even in easy mode is gave a feeling like Secret Missions in WC1 - or I've just
become old since then ;-)

At all, it was worth waiting all those years.
I Liked it much better than WC5 - dodging into the story of WC3 with nice little links to that game-story. I was set back to my youth!

So, now on to normal difficulty ;-)

Is it just me? Yes No First of all Thanks for all your efforts in putting this masterpiece together!

But i encountered a quite disturbing issue in the Asteroid Mission. All of a sudden after launching my first Missle (which is usually then the Vakoth Fighters come up together with the Asteroid Fighters, the Game takes over my Missle Command and launches one Rocket after the other as soon as auto targeting has a Target. So after one Minute or so, i am out of Rockets.

A big congratulations Yes No First of all, im a vanilla freak, i generally dont mod, or alter games, with the only exeption being the FS open engine for Freespace 2 but as a long term fan of both Freespace and Wing commander, i decided this might be worth a go.

WOW!!
Its.. Breathtaking!!
Never have i come across such a masterpiece of fan made media!
WC Saga is a breathtaking labour of love that captures the intensity and immersion that both the FS/WC series's are known for.

I feel privillaged to enjoy the fruits of your labour, i really do! Be proud of yourselves gentlemen, you deserve recognition.
This game is amazing!
