Know Your Shipmates: Confed Capital Ships - Entry 6: Yorktown
FROM: Rear Admiral Tolwyn, CINCWEAPONSDIVISION
DATE: 2010.25.10
For this update, we like to show our final variant of the Yorktown-class carrier. This venerable light carrier was first seen in Wing Commander 3, where the main character flew off the TCS Victory. People who have played our prologue would also remember the TCS Wellington, the carrier that played a big part in the main character’s training. The player can expect to see other Yorktown-class carriers throughout the campaign.
Designed more than fifty years before the Kilrathi War, the Yorktown-class light carrier has been modernized and refitted to keep up with rest of the carrier fleet. Its four fighter squadrons offer flexibility and adaptability from serving as support of a larger Confederation carrier or the center of its own battle group. The Kilrathi naval build-up of the past few years and the Confederations losses incurred during the Battle for Earth have shifted these venerable carriers back into front line duty.

Cool, will every Konfed and Kilrathi capship have their names on it?
Hy dudes :-)I am very happy to see my favorite carrier with the new textures but i think it looks a little bit poor in detail...
When i saw the latest ships (Tallahassee, Southampton) i thought there would be more details...
Perhaps this is deceptive because of the lighting, we will see later ingame ;-) .
BTW: Is it possible for you to make an in-hangar-screenshot? I am very interrested how it looks there :-)
PS: Sorry for multi-posting but my comment was cut after the inverted comma, sorry :-(
Props to the team once again. The attention to detail is impressive and my only real gripe is about there being two name plates when I'm more accustomed to the ship's name only accompanying the hull number on the plate positioned astern. This is a minor concern however, and the quality overall is quite outstanding!
I'm a huge fan of the Wing Commander series, played them all to death back in the day.I've seen game mods that look better than this, no offence intended, maybe with full AA AF it might look a little better, take a look at Black Prophecy and you'll see what I mean.
There's a lot I don't like about Black Prophecy, story is one of them, so to hear there was a new Wing Commander coming I got excited, but in truth this looks only marginally better in graphics quality than Freelancer, which is nearly 8 years old.
Annoys me to no end when the word outdated comes out.So what, most of the newer games with shiny graphics are complete junk.
I say good job on it, keep up the good work. Saw the other ships and they look just as good.
And alot of the "outdated" games make alot of the newer one look like their devs were lazy, focusing too much on visuals.

I do not have to answer, do I?
I was looking forward to these pics the most. The Victory was my favourite carrier/capship in WC3, since it was Blair's "home base" for the game. Good to see they're looking as impressive as ever. WC Saga and Black Mesa Source are my two most anticipated mods for this year and beyond (hopefully not too much beyond if not this year :p) Keep up the good work fellas.
