Malloc Failure

So im on my ... 9th... playthrough i think. and every time i engage the wrath-ghar (final mission) it gets to the point where Major Ramius comes over the comm and says "Does anyone have any torpedoes?!" and within 60 seconds of that line... the game suffers a Malloc Failed! error and crashes. It takes me a long time to get back to that point so obviously trying to figure out whats causing it is gonna take a while. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

So that happens everytime you play at the same spot?

Roughly around the same spot. I remember the first time it was when the hermes arrived and then[spoiler:1sxfetk1]admiral Rumley gets blown away faster than a red shirt.[/spoiler:1sxfetk1] Then i replayed 3 times and every time it was within 20 seconds of ramius saying that line. I also noticed something odd... the Invincible strike team (Barr's wing getting chased by the cats after disengaging) doesnt despawn. I can still target them when im fighting the dreadnought... idk if that has anything to do with it.

That all sounds very very odd. Malloc is simply a memory failure. That might happen if you run out of memory (unlikely) or due to memory fragmentation after playing the game for a long time, lots of mission in a row for hours. But a game restart should fix that. The wing not despawning... something is fishy there, are you sure your installation is 100% alright?
