Hi all
very excited to see an new WC game,
I've played all the previous ones.

I've installed the game + patch.
I can click on the icon to launch WC, and change the options, but when I click on RUN
the screen goes blank and the PC locks up. The HD still have activity for like 60 seconds, and stops as well. I can't CRT-break or bring up the task manager, the pc does not respond to anything except a reboot.

I have an Intel i5-3450 @3.1 Ghz running Windows 7 x64
with 4GB or Ram

video card is
ASUS GTX 550 Ti DirectX with 11 (ENGTX550 Ti/DI/1GD5)
video is being feed via HMDI to my flatpanel 1080p


Has anyone else experience the blank screen issue?

Welcome on board kmn911 :)

Sounds like a video driver problem. Generally problems with NVIDIA cards and WCS are very uncommon.

1. If you start the game and the screen goes blank, try to exit the game with Shift+Esc. But it think, this will not work in your case.

2. Another point: do you hear sound after starting WCS?

3. Download the debug build and copy it into WCS folder, then start WCS with this exe. After the crash, attach the fs2_open.log here in thread you can find in My Documents / Volition / Wing Commander Saga / data /.

Thanks Luke,
I was able to get it to run today after experimenting with the configurations.
someone had posted they got the blue screen and was able to get around it, but inverting vertical sync and selecting the windowed mode.

I made those changes and it also worked for me.

hopefully this info will help others as well.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to make the mouse work for this game....

Thanks for feedback.

So the assumption was correct, the video driver is the problem. Have you played with different resolutions in the launcher?
