Auto-glide just maintains your current velocity (that is, speed and direction of motion). If you're not matched exactly with your target before you turn on glide, you will not stay with them perfectly. Likewise, if they change speed or heading, you won't stay with them. Generally, I don't bother to try to get a perfect course match, just close enough to destroy whatever launcher/turret I'm targetting, and then I'll run away and let my shields recharge before coming in for another pass.

I also pulled this off successfully: 1. Press S and V repeatedly until I've targeted the launcher 2. zoomed in, ran parallel to the destroyer blind spot, inched forward using "a" then when I'm a fair distance ahead, I activate glide, turn around, funnel all power to Guns and blow the launcher (If you've misaligned yourself and find that the ship is moving too fast for you to destroy the launcher with guns, you can launch a missile or two to ensure the launcher's destruction) 3. fly to the flight deck (do not use afterburners for this; use "a" and "z" to position yourself) 4. destroy the destroyer from the inside. ^.^

Finished the Prologie last night and it was unbelievable intense for a spacesim. Great work!
I got through just fine and understood that the Wellington could not be rescued. Even without the devls telling us, I think it's quite obvious. Facing two cruisers are impossible odds.
One question though: The WC Saga manual mentions that the survivors of the Wellingston managed to destroy one destroyer and two cruisers...with the last part not being acurate for me I'm afraid.
Is it possible that, by keeping the two Thunderbolts alive (which I was not able to; just glad the pilots were able to eject though), you can actually manage to blow the two cruisers out the sky before the two confed cruisers arive?
Spoiler: show
Losing Angela was heart breaking...so cruel and sad.

It takes 3 torpedoes to kill a Fralthi II class cruiser and each Thunderbolt only has one torpedo, secondly I believe the destruction of the two Thunderbolts is scripted.

Thanks.
Well, I guess the com-chatter, talking about two ejected thunderbold pilots, was a giveaway.
I'm wondering though...does the engine allow for some flexibility IN and DURING the missions? Like a situation that could play out in two different ways, resulting in different com-chatter? Or are variations like this only possible from one mission into the next?
Because otherwise the com-chatter is always a dead-giveaway and I could stop wondering about certain situations. ^^

It takes only 2 torpedoes, and no the death of both Thunderbolts is scripted. You cannot destroy the Fralthi II before the cruisers arrive.

Then - and I know this is just nit-picking, so don't take it all too serious - there is a little mistake in the WC Saga manual:
These pilots are survivors of the training carrier TCS Wellington. A light carrier of the Yorktown-class, the Wellington went down several weeks ago during a fierce engagement with a Kilrathi close action group. In spite of this defeat, her flight wing, only at partial-strength and mostly crewed by pilot trainees after a recent naval air transfer, destroyed two heavy cruisers, one destroyer, and over sixty fighters and bombers. All remaining survivors were rescued by the cruisers TCS Juneau and TCS Dover.
It sounds like the figther-wing from the Wellington destroyed these cruisers.
Well, like I said, a really really minor mistake. Nevertheless, this is what made me wonder whether these two could actually be destroyed by my wing.

I'm having trouble with this bit as well. I have no problem with enemy fighters but I just can't knock this destroyer out before it destroys the Wellington, or in my recklessness... me. I've targeted the launcher but it seems to be only vulnerable from the front. I get inside the shields then just get rammed by the ship as I'm trying to shoot the launcher.
If I handle the fighters and the capship missles, will the rest of my wing eventually take out the destroyer?
Or is there an inflight save function so I don't have to keep doing the whole mission over and over?
Edit: I finally got past that bit by putting it on very easy so I could ignore the enemy fighters. Then I went and got killed during the battle with the two enemy cruisers when one of them blew up and I was caught in the blast.
Please tell me there's a way to save the mission in progress. It's an amazing game but I don't think I can cope with the repition.
