Try using the gamepad on different USB ports. If that doesn't help, please tell us what it says in your registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Volition\WingCommanderSaga
for the value CurrentJoystick

ok this is really weird, i checked out the value, it says 0, i changed it to 1, and then the gamepad worked! but on the configuration panel, it says "no joystick", so i changed it back to my gamepad, clicked ok, and the registry value says 0 again, and the gamepad does not work again. so i had to change it back to 1 manually

i think the gamepad selection menu is broken, when i select "No joystick", it writes 0x1869f/99999 into the registry
when i select my logitech gamepad, it writes 0 into the registry

it never writes 1, which would make my gamepad work :/

9999 is ok for "No Joystick" That's the coded value for the game.

The joystick enumeration starts at 0. It's possible that the launcher somehow enumerates stuff in a different order however. I'll look into that. But for now it's good to know that you can get your game running with it :)

Hey guys I have a problem with my Xbox360 pad. I can calibrate it fine but when I'm into the game, the sticks don't work at all, only the buttons and triggers do. I tried to remap the Pitch and Yaw things from the controls, which were already mapped, but it does not work... do you have any idea what it may be?

I have a similar problem with my Sidewinder FF. Windows and other games correctly use the joystick and the launcher also recognizes it. However I am not able to map any controls for it ingame. None of the buttons get recognized and neither do any of the axes. I tried all USB ports on my machine, but that didn't change anything. The registry entry for the joystick is 0x00000000 (0) - I take it that is not a good sign, is it? :(

Sorry if I seem dumb but isn't that under the control config menu, ship, "Turn (Yaw) Axis" and "Pitch Axis"? If that's it I have done it, it says "Joystick X/Y axis" when I map them, but then it doesnt work :/

That is actrually the correct value but try putting a 1 in there instead of the 0, then report back.
Also try using the joystick on a different USB port (USB 2.0 preferable to USB 3.0).
