Application Error running XP SP3

I am getting the following error immediately upon attempting to launch WCSaga:

"Wing Commander Saga.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Which application, the launcher or the game?

The Launcher.

As I continue to try and figure this out I have found that if I launch the file wcsaga_sse2.exe directly the game starts, however I think I have some graphics issues to sort out because my desktop background remains and blinks during the initial video sequence (I am downloading the latest catalyst driver as I type).

I assume that I should be using the launcher? or does it matter?
