Mouse controls are not locked onto the retical. I am assume either because that's how it was done in the original WC series or to balance multiplayer with people who use joysticks. I would love an option to have a setting for Freespace mouse controls where it's locked onto the retical.

Not so much the problem as the mouse being sticky everywhere, including non flight part of game, the mouse simple isn't smooth anywhere, move mouse from top to bottom in main menu and it will stick/be jerky.

Try turning off V-Sync; it may be that when you're playing fullscreen, the mouse movement is locked to the FPS rate, and if it's not high enough, you can got odd behavior. I suspect that V-Sync is automatically turned off when you use windowed mode, which might explain this behavior.

I am not experiencing the sticky mouse issue, but I hate the fact that in MOUSE FLIGHT the targeting reticle moves all over the screen but the guns only fire directly straight out of your ship, they don't follow the targeting reticle. So why can't we disable the visible targeting reticle? That shouldn't be difficult to do, and it would eliminate an annoying aspect of an otherwise fantastic game.

Also what you see there is a mouse flight direction helper reticle, not a targetting reticle. This is not Freelancer and the controls were never meant to be like that.
We will over an additional control scheme soon but for this control scheme the reticle will stay.

I would absolutely love to have a steering model like in Freelancer, where your guns actually follow your mouse cursor. I think that was one of the best innovations in flight sims over the years.
However I do acknowledge that the game probably isn't balanced around such a model and would require remodeling to not have a too big impact on gameplay.
Also I'm not even sure you can do something like this with the FS2 engine, although you obviously were successful in altering the engine already by implementing the original WC mouse steering model.
I've played most of WC games with a joystick (my good old Gravis Firebird *sniff*) so that wasn't much of an issue back then, but not owning a joystick anymore and having played Freelancer, having to go back to the "old ways" really is kind of annoying.
