Gamepad support?
by goodsamaritan » Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:15 pm
I have a controller for the PC and I was wondering if and how it is possible to control the game with it (at least in actual gameplay, as I'm okay with dealing with menus with a mouse and keyboard).
I downloaded WCS: Prologue and later found a post where someone said they were playing with a controller. Just wondering if it is possible and how to do it. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, that's awesome! Is there a way to enable the gamepad in WCS: Prologue? (some option in-game?)

I wouldn't bother. The Darkest Down comes with an upgraded Prologue campaign.
As far as the original Prologue goes - you could try to select your gamepad in the launcher - it might do the trick. Keep in mind though that you will need to reconfigure ingame controls.

Hi, first, thank you for this game! it really is one hell of a job.
so about the gamepad, I am in second mission and i can't get my gamepad running, on the settings panel before the game, when you click calibration, the windows game controller panel pops up, and there the gamepad works, i got a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 it says, and the buttons also work there. But In-Game the buttons don't do anything. i tried re-assigning the primary fire to my button 1 on the gamepad, but it does not detect me pushing that button.

I am also having this issue with my Logitech 3d extreme pro joystick.
I have selected it in the launcher, and confirmed it is responsive in the windows calibration, but I am unable to get it to register within the game i.e. cant fly with it, or change button configuration in game.
I recently played through Freespace 2 and didn't encounter this issue.
Also, is there a way to copy joystick control settings from Freespace 2, to Wing Commander Saga?

I'm not totally sure why it works this way, but try plugging your joystick into a different USB port. We have found that often changing ports will cause the joystick to be activated. If it still doesn't work, let us know and a developer may have a better idea of what to do.

Did you try assigning the buttons from the options menu in the game...F2

Alright got my Joystick working. I changed the USB port, but it still didn't work.
I then plugged in my 360 controller at the same time as the joystick, and booted into the game. I could remap the controls and use it for flight.
I quit out and changed the control scheme back to the joystick in the launcher, and I was able to use it for flight.
Thanks for the help Thor.
