Freya 2 Mission

Am I missing something on this mission? After some preliminaries you end up @ the jump point helping a group led by thre Trenton. The whole damn enemy fleet comes through and no matter what I do I can't protect the cap ships. But if I dont I lose the mission and cannot advance. What are you supposed to do on this one because it is making me nuts.

I'm not entirely sure how I did it on the first try, as I had trouble the second. Focus on the bombers and the capship missiles, and as soon as a capship jumps in, take out her launchers. The missiles are the worst weapon they have to toss out there. Once you get them stacking up, call in both the missiles and the bomber support. You have to protect the capships as they depart (I think).

tried both. 1/2 the time the targeting system only says "weapons" not "launchers" like it should unless you detarget and then retarget the ship. The kilrathi ships are also going almost as fast as a fighter so getting in front to hit the launchers w/o getting killed is essentially impossible. Calling for help is also useless. This has been a good game so far but this is one of the most piss poor mission designs I have ever seen in a game. I honestly don't know what the developers were thinking.

When an enemy capital ship is targetted use 'K' to cycle the ships turrets. One of them is the 'launcher'.

Yeah, as long as their is no end mission cutscene or such you must keep flyin' !
Perhaps this should be remarked somewhere in the tips at the beginning?

So it is scripted that you fail the primary mission and all the ships are destroyed?

considering some missions are extremely difficult, but winable, did you ever consider giving the players a clue as to which ones aren't? such as, considering all the in flight chatting, maybe having a wingman or command saying "you never had a chance" or something to that effect to seperate the difficult from the impossible. I accept that any game will have some frustrating levels but it would be nice to at least have a clue as to when you are banging your head against a scripted wall.
