A thought on the concept for the Kilrathi Ships
by nickm » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:05 am
Guys:
Don't know if anybody else is a fan of the TV Series Babylon-5 or not; but has anyone noticed that the Race known as the Centauri have ships that look somewhat like certain Kilrathi Models? Compare the Vaktoth & the Dralthi & the Snakir with a Vorchan a Primus or a Rotarian. The Centauri ships always had those upswept fins like the men's pompadour hairdstyles--and to me at least those upswept structures seem to bear a resemblance to the 'cutting weapon' look sported by the Kilrathi.

played the babylon project stand alone total conversion for FreeSpace2, noticed, remembered the centauri are just a bunch of sissy humanoids that base their government off who has the best hair, and laughed to myself

I also needed quite some time to get used to it. After that it was really fun.
But I never finished the game unfortunately. There is a mission where you have to shoot asteroids or something and at one nav point I came out of hyperspace and instantly died every time. I never figured out why

in-swept wings that's about it now back to TPB
*raises the jolly roger
"ARRRR! IN THE NAME OF SENSELESS FORUM BABBLE!"
which campaign was the asteroid mission? I've played earth-mumbari war, and raider wars(in raider wars "slipping the noose" was basically TBP's equivalent to Nifelheim 2 impossible to beat going in blind)

I can't remember. I think it was the first campaign that was released. That was ages ago.
As for the ships: The Centauri ships look a bit WC2ish, but not very similar IMO.

sorry can't even remmember what their ships looked like, though I'd point out that the general Kilrathi design as seen in the Drahlti has changed only very little over time.
The Vaktoth for example remindes of the Jahlti, just that the Vaktoth is a more balanced design (half as scary but slightly more difficult to kill).
So if you are implying a copycat action it would be from Babylon 5.
