No but a higher class medal. Your performance in this mission also counts towards getting a Hyperion campaign award

b will target nearest bomb if any exist or nearest bomber.
On thread topic, I am really starting to hate this mission. 40+ minutes of work and 50 kills only to be out of fuel and missiles and watch the Armageddon explode - again.
EDIT: of course, right after I complained, I passed the mission. Please tell me no more of Col House.

It is your game. You as developers can do whatever works best for you. But in my opinion this mission is flawed in its design.
It's just not fun, to fly the same mission over and over again, just because at the end after 45 minutes, the devs decided to torture the player with capship missiles. The "try again" premise doesn't work properly, because you have 40 minutes of idle time, before the heavy stuff come up again.
And skipping the mission is not such a good solution either. Most flyboys will grind their teeth and try the mission again, and i think most of them won't skip(pride), but just lose interest and play something else.
As i said before, you devs can design this mission as you see fit, but i stopped playing at this point.
But in the end i really can't complain. I didn't pay anything, i had fun up to this point, so thanks again for all the fish

"You need to push your fighter to the limit and use glide to your advantage"
Can you please explain this in a more detailed way?
I already feel bad because I cannot finish a mission in a singleplayer game on the lowest of six levels of difficulty.
My first problem with the mission:
Every Waypoint / Stage has to be perfect in order to give you a decent chance of surviving the last attack. If you position your fighter in glide mode at one side of the battlegroup you can protect this side really well, but you will be out of range to defend the other sides of the battlgroup from bomber / capship attacks.
Has anybode a working idea to this problem?
The fact that failing the mission on very easy really crushed my fun with the game, which is by the way exactly what i waited for
But I would like to see the rest of it, too and not with skipping or cheating.

Sure. Allocate engines' power to your weapons. Accelerate towards your target, hit glide and make a strafing run. With full guns you should be able to destroy a bomber in one pass (just don't open fire as soon as you are in the weapons' range). Repeat for other targets.

Ok, so you say, that you don't keep gliding in the capships moving direction but you try to intercept the incoming bomber wings, fair enough.
But what's with your "global" mission strategy, or do you just intercept as much bombers as you can?
I'm not trying to annoy anybody here, I just can't get past this mission
