One of the hallmarks of the Wing Commander series is its great characters. Wing Commander Saga delves deeply into this tradition, and offers a cast of dozens of characters with whom you will interact throughout both in-game sequences and extensive written fiction. In this section, you can find information about some of the characters you will come to know well as you fight side-by-side with them against the brutal Kilrathi. You - Main Character
Second Lieutenant David Markham You play the role of 2nd Lieutenant David Markham, a young OCS graduate whose accelerated flight training takes place on the TCS Wellington, an aging, dilapidated carrier patrolling a backwater system. Learning the "tricks of the trade" needed to survive from veterans on rotation from the front, you will hone your skills to a sharp edge in the safety of Confederation space. But all is not what it seems. Primary Wingmen
These are the wingmen you will fly with during your tour on the TCS Wellington. Remember, these are pilots with their own skills, strengths, weaknesses, and opinions. Alec "Ninja" Crisologo Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Diamondback A graduate of the Space Forces Academy and a veteran assigned to the Wellington, Ninja is an optimist who tends to look on the bright side of things no matter how bad the situation might be. A bit on the sarcastic side, he likes to joke around but he can handle just about any situation with cool precision. A very skilled flier, he's someone who can handle just about anything. John "Assassin" Chaplin
Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Diamondback A graduate of the Space Forces Academy and a veteran assigned to the Wellington for training purposes, his callsign sums up his demeanor during battle. Assassin takes out the enemy quickly, efficiently and without any signs of remorse. Outside the cockpit he's a fun guy to be around (often found with his partner in crime, Ninja)and talking to him you'd never know there was a war going on.
Primary Squadron Leaders
Depending on squadron assignments, David will be the direct command of a squadron leader. They in turn report to the Wing Commander. As David moves between squadrons and CO's, his fighter, mission briefing and wingmen will change appropriately. Diamondback Leader - Kenny "Kettle" Baws Rank: Major Squadron: Diamondback
Baws is your first squadron leader onboard the Wellington. Generally relaxed and easy going, Baws does have a rather short fuse if anyone happens to get close enough with a flame.
Other Characters
During the course of your tour on the Wellington, you will be in contact with pilots and other personnel who might not fly with you very often or at all, but are central characters in our story. Thad "Champ" Cooper Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Diamondback There’s one in every group and Champ just happens to be the one in Markham’s OCS class. Cocky, brash and vocal, Champ, who has ridden Markham’s last nerve all the way to the Wellington, is a competent young pilot when his ego doesn’t get in the way. Angela “Panzer” DiMarco
Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Star Killer The only other member of Markham’s OCS class (besides Champ) onboard the Wellington, Panzer is a smart, skilled young pilot with a mean streak and an attitude to match. Usually fun-loving and free spirited, her anger and harsh manner is usually reserved for anyone who crosses her, whoever is in her gun sights or a certain “Champ” Cooper. Sydney “Viking” Snider Rank: First Lieutenant Squadron: Hellscream Viking is a veteran of the Hellscream squadron which has rotated back from the front to assist in the OCS graduates training. A laid back older officer, Viking is a steady wingman, cool and calm under pressure. Charles “Hoobler” Hornaday Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Star Killer If there’s fun to be found, you can bet Hoobler is already in the middle of it. A OCS graduate, Hoobler is a competent pilot, though his youthful enthusiasm and inexperience are evident in his flying. Brent “Floyd” Pink Rank: Second Lieutenant Squadron: Diamondback A natural flyer, Floyd is as good at the controls as any recent OCS graduate. Though gifted, his impulsive nature has landed him in hot water many times, both inside and outside the cockpit.
